Research

  • My research is widely reported in the financial press and published in top academic journals such as Journal of Finance, Journal of Finance and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, and European Financial Management 

  • I was ranked amongst 20 top researchers in Europe (Chan et al, 2011)*. In 2014, I contributed to the Report on the privatization of Royal Mail IPO lead by Lord Myners for the UK government. In 2015 I received the City University Long Achievement Award 1990-2015

  • My current and past visiting professorships include African Business School, Morocco; Bologna Business School, Italy; Catolica University in Lisbon; EDHEC Business School in Nice and Lille; HEC Paris, Universite Paris VIII Creteil; and Université Paris Dauphine

​Teaching:

  • I am responsible for developing the learning materials, academic support, and delivery of workshops.

  • I currently teach Corporate Finance and Advanced Corporate Finance on all Full-time and Executive MBA programmes in London and Dubai.

  • I previously taught Financial Analysis, Research project Management and Financial Economics to and PhD, undergraduates, and MSc Finance, MSc Banking and Finance and MSc Accounting and International Finance candidates.

  • I taught executives in UK (e.g., Goldman Sachs, KPMG, Deloitte) and abroad (e.g., Finland, Egypt, Bahrain, Portugal and France).

  • My outstanding teaching performance led me to win the first Dean's Prize for Teaching Excellence in 1998, 2003, 2006 and 2008. In 2012, I was nominated for Economist Intelligence Unit Business Professor of the Year award**

Administrative duties:

  • I directed the PhD programme from 1996-1999, and the MSc Finance from 2004 to 2009. I was Director of Research in 1999-2000, Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer in 2011-2012, and REF Faculty of Finance leader 2018-2022.
